Welcome to the one hundred and twenty-first school year at Loyola. The staff at The Loyola News wish you all a very successful school year. Remember to stay up to date with all the latest school news right here and on our social media sites.

Talent Night 2016

September 21 - If you are interested in joining the 2016 Talent Night committee or work crew, there will be a brief information session on Monday, September 26, at the start of lunch, in Room 216, to discuss the important, mandatory dates required to be part of the team. Come by and find out if you can be part of rock and roll history! If you are interested but cannot attend, be sure to contact Mr. Hein.

Youth Ministry team

September 15 - Campus Ministry will be establishing a new leadership team of senior students whose task it will be to support and promote the activities of Campus Ministry. The selected team will get leadership training and formation in order to lead in ministry and peer counseling. Having a strong faith in God and a desire to serve the mission of the school is an asset, however we would love to meet all who are interested. If you are in grades 9-11, drop by the Campus Ministry room to get more information.

Campus Ministry lounge

September 15 -Campus Ministry would like to officially open the student lounge to all students. The Campus Ministry Lounge, situated in Room 336, is open daily before school, during break, and also for lunch. All levels are welcome to use the beautiful space to come together in community and conversation or bring your guitar! Some exciting activities are being planned out of Campus Ministry; drop by to see what's in the works. Bring your food at lunch time and hang out with your friends and your teachers.

Connect 4 tournament

September 21 - Today is the last day to sign up for tomorrow's lunchtime Connect 4 Tournament in the Atrium. The winner will receive a Subway gift card - and bragging rights. Sign-up sheets are located outside the Student Council office and on the pillar outside the main office.

The cast for Loyola Drama’s Lord of the Flies is complete

September 9 - Director Mr. Sean Ryan has prepared the cast list for Loyola Drama’s Lord of the Flies and will be distributing the scripts on Monday after school in room 354. The meeting will be brief and Mr. Ryan will provide a tentative rehearsal schedule. .

Concert and Jazz Bands

September 6 - Students interested in auditioning for the Jazz Band are to e-mail Mr. Pasquini to set up an audition time.

Fall sports information and registration

August 31 - Students interested in trying out for different sports are asked to register on-line. Please consult Sports Corner on the Loyola High School website, the bulletin board in the gym lobby and our Sports and Clubs page for more information.

Volume XIII, Issue III of The Loyola News

The final edition of The Loyola News for the 2015-16 school year was available on June 6 in the cafeteria and in the gym lobby. The 32-page issue is the biggest in the paper’s history and featured articles on the Closing Mass, the Festival of the Arts, the SSX Competition and much more.
