Lord of the Flies is cancelled

November 26 - Loyola Drama's production of Lord of the Flies has been cancelled. According to director Sean Ryan, "While the cast and crew were looking forward to presenting the Lord of the Flies to the Loyola community, the concussion suffered by our lead, forced us to pause and reflect. The health of the students, along with their academics, are my priority. The administration and I believe that postponing the show would place greater pressure in these areas, especially for our graduating cast members. While it saddens me that our work will not be presented this year, I feel that this difficult choice was the right one to make given the circumstances we were presented with."

Loyola’s annual toy drive

November 15 - Our beautiful Christmas tree is up in the Atrium and it's time to begin Loyola's Annual Toy Drive for the families in need of St. Gabriel's parish. Over the next two weeks, students are invited to leave a new toy under the tree in the Atrium. Please do not wrap or bag the toys. The toy drive will run until December 2. Sr. Dianna has requested that we not bag or wrap the gifts. If you give a gift that has more than one piece (eg. art supplies), please feel free to use a bag. If you would like to learn more about St. Gabriel's Parish, go to www.saintgabrielsparish.com

VACC haiku contest

November 28 - The Venture Arts and Culture Club's second writing contest has begun. Write a haiku and get published online. A prize will be awarded to the author of the best haiku. Deadline is Friday. Go to the official VACC website for more details.

Loyola Talent Night was a star studded affair

November 21 - Many thanks to the many students, teachers, family and friends who came out this past Friday to attend the 2016 Talent Night, and helped raise nearly 1000$ for the bursary drive! Thanks also go to a hard working committee and work-crew who put together a smooth show, all the outstanding performers, and an enthusiastic and attentive audience, all of whom made the night great! A special thanks goes out to Mr. Prillo for all his help setting up the necessary equipment, and to Ms. Adams for supervising the door. Thank you to Mr. Degano and Ms. Smith for jumping in to help out at the door as well. Finally, a very special thanks to Mr. Proietti and Mr. Giouard for all their work behind the scenes! All in all, it was a wonderful night that we will all remember for a long time to come!

Movember

November 16 - Prostate cancer rates are on the rise, and testicular cancer rates have doubled in the last 50 years. Three quarters of suicides are men. Too many men die too young, and that has to stop. Loyola participates annually in Movember to help fight these challenges that men of all ages face. This year, we have almost 100 staff and student participants, and on Friday, the whole school will get the opportunity to support Movember via a free dress day. More information will follow in tomorrow's bulletin and that Movember Committee would like to thank everyone for supporting this very important cause.
