Red Sox win Loyola World Series

June 2 - It was a beautiful afternoon on Wednesday, May 31, for a championship softball game between the Red Sox and the All Stars. It was an exciting game with the lead switching sides numerous times. The Red Sox pulled away with a big inning but the All Stars would not give up and chipped away at the lead. However, timely hits and a great defence allowed the Red Sox to hang on and win the game 13-10. The Red Sox are invited to pass by Mr. Fulvio's office and sign the game ball. Congratulations to Mathieu Lafortune for winning the league MVP. A special thanks to Ben Depoorter for his mentorship and positive spirit and a final thank you to Mr. Santillo and Mr. Schnitzer for joining us this year.

Juvenile rugby Warriors win the GMAA city championship

May 31 - Congratulations to the Juvenile Rugby team who won the GMAA final yesterday by defeating St Thomas High School, 41-14. The boys were required to work hard for the entire match against a much improved opponent. Captain Alessandro Aquino-Sirois revived the MVP award for an outstanding game in attack and defence, whilst Marshall Mather was the Warrior of the game. The coaches would like to sincerely thank all players for their hard work and commitment to the team, they were an absolute pleasure to coach.

Midget rugby Warriors win the GMAA city championship

May 31 - GMAA Div. 1 Champions! Congratulations to the Midget Rugby team on a hard fought victory over St. Thomas. It was a very competitive final with outstanding performances by boys on both teams. GMAA match MVP went to Keanu Yazbeck who had an impact on all aspects of the game. Liam Wozny had a massive impact on the game both offensively and defensively and deserves mention. Great final boys.

Pink Peril win Ultimate championship for third time

May 26 - Pink Peril defeated Limelight in the Loyola Ultimate championship game yesterday. It was the league-leading third title for the franchise. Luca Chiricosta was named the MVP for Pink Peril. After the game, the teacher all stars defeated the secondary 5 all stars in a close and exciting match.

Division 3 Juvenile rugby

May 23 - The Warriors played their best game of the season on Friday but unfortunately lost a close one to MSGR 22-10. The coaches would like to thank all the players for their time and dedication.

Juvenile rugby team returns from New Brunswick

May 5 - Congratulations to the Juvy Rugby team who had a 57-15 win over CVR yesterday. Players player went to Calvin Mazloum for scoring a hat trick of tries, closely followed by Alex Lee who scored his first ever try in the first 1/4, followed by one for the highlight reel in the 2nd half. Warrior of the game was split between Tyler Clow and Will Matthews for their tireless work ethic. Div 1 gets some rest now as Div 3 take on Royal West this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. on the Ed Meagher Field.

Teachers defeat IBA all stars

May 4 - On Wednesday, the highly anticipated IBA Teacher-Student game lived up to its billing. The teachers, with a dominating performance in the first half, took a 15 point lead going into halftime. In the second half, the teachers showed their age and the students came roaring back and were one point away from tying the game in the final seconds. The teachers won a nail biter by a score of 45-44.

Track and Field team returns from meet in Ontario

May 1 - The Loyola Track and Field team competed in the annual Track Wars meet this past Friday, in Cambridge, Ontario. This marked the first time that Warriors Track has competed outside of La Belle Province. The competition was fierce but our Warriors were able to pull off top ten and top 5 finishes in many of the day's events. The day was capped off by 4 four Warriors (Jonah Smith, Dave Mancini, Nick Banousis, and Matteo Lorenzoni) competing in the thrilling steeplechase event. Congratulations to all who participated. Now it's time to prepare for GMAA qualifiers next week. Go Warriors!

Wildcats win IBA crown

April  6 - It was a battle of the undefeated on April 5 as the Hoyas kept the Wildcats in check with a 16-10 halftime lead. The Hoyas kept the lead for most of the game but just couldn’t put it away. Continue reading on our Intramural Sports page and check out a picture of the winning team.

Athletic awards dinner

May 19 - The annual athletic awards dinner took place last night at Loyola and the most distinguished athlete was Will Matthews who was awarded the Sportsmanship Trophy for his involvement in the sports program throughout his high school career. Tom Reynolds’ pictures of the event are available here.

Juvenile rugby team wins the GMAA sevens tournament

May 15 - Congratulations to the Juvenile Rugby team who entered three teams into Friday's GMAA 7's. Excellent efforts from all involved and the boys represented their school extremely well. Tournament MVP for Loyola C was Gavin Delaney, while Calvin Mazloum and Neos Dionisopoulos shared the award for Loyola B. Loyola A defeated Loyola B in the semi final and then went on to claim the title with a 31-0 victory in the final over Stanstead. Alex Lee picked up the MVP award for Loyola A in the final with 2 excellent tries, along with outstanding efforts from all starters and impact substitutes. The team now gets back into 15's with games this week on the Ed Meagher Field against St. Thomas and CVR.

Junior softball

May 12 - What an opening day! The Red Sox showed their blue collar roots and with a full team and stellar defence were too much for the Yankees who put up a great effort despite injury and an incomplete team. Player of the game: Mathieu Lafortune and Gabriel Fontana. In today's action the Red Sox take on the Blue Jays. Opening pitch at 3:30 p.m.

Bantam tennis team wins silver

May 11 - The bantam tennis team did even better than we thought. They came second and will all receive silver medals. Again congratulations on a job well done.
